Yankees Beat Orioles 6-3

The New York Yankees faced the the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at New Yankee Stadium with the Yankees winning 6 to 3. It was quite a game that followers with Yankees tickets will be talking about for days.

Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia (4.14 ERA) got the win, while Kevin Millwood (4.29 ERA) took the loss for the Orioles. CC Sabathia went 7 solid innings for the Yankees, allowed 3 hits, 2 home runs and 3 earned runs with one walk and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Yankees was Joba Chamberlain (5.32). The Orioles’s starter Kevin Millwood went 5.2 innings, allowed 10 hits, 2 home runs and 6 earned runs with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Jason Berken (1.98), and Will Ohman (1.02) also pitched for the Orioles. With the win, Sabathia’s record goes to 5-3, while Millwood falls to 0-6. Mariano Rivera earned the save for the Yankees, bringing his saves up to 12.

In addition to the 6 runs, the Yankees managed 12 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Yankees, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Alex Rodriguez had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Orioles didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Orioles managed 3 runs, 3 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mike DiMuro, Tim Welke, Jim Reynolds and Bill Welke. There were 44,927 Yankees ticket holders in attendance at New Yankee Stadium.
