The Yankees’s starter Javier Vazquez went 6 innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 home runs and 3 earned runs with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. Damaso Marte (4.70), and Chad Gaudin (6.95) also pitched for the Yankees. With the win, Hernandez’s record goes to 6-5, while Vazquez falls to 6-7.
In addition to the 7 runs, the Mariners managed 9 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Mariners, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Ryan Langerhans had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Yankees didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Robinson Cano could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Yankees mustered no runs, 2 hits and no errors.
