Yankees blank Indians 8-0

Wow! What a game you saw last night if you had New York Yankees tickets, when A.J. Burnett threw a no hitter for the WIN_TEAM!! Congratulations to Burnett as well as the Yankees for an incredible accomplishment. Yankees pitcher A.J. Burnett (4.52 ERA) got the win, while Fausto Carmona (3.92 ERA) took the loss for the Indians. A.J. Burnett went 6.1 solid innings for the Yankees, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Yankees was Joba Chamberlain (5.86), and Sergio Mitre (3.73). The Indians’s starter Fausto Carmona went 2.2 innings, allowed 10 hits, no home runs and 7 earned runs with one walk and one strikeout. Hector Ambriz (5.03), Jess Todd (5.40), Frank Herrmann (2.57), and Tony Sipp (4.62) also pitched for the Indians. With the win, Burnett’s record goes to 9-8, while Carmona falls to 10-8.

In addition to the 8 runs, the Yankees managed 13 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Yankees, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Alex Rodriguez had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. Trevor Crowe had the most hits for the Indians (3), followed by Travis Hafner (2). Jason Donald could not get much going at the plate as he left 6 runners on base. The Indians managed no runs, 8 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Dale Scott, Jerry Meals, Mark Wegner and Dan Iassogna. There were 22,965 Indians ticket holders in attendance at Progressive Field.
