Yankees pitcher Javier Vazquez (4.81 ERA) got the win, while Ben Sheets (4.89 ERA) took the loss for the Athletics. Javier Vazquez went 7 solid innings for the Yankees, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Yankees was Joba Chamberlain (5.09). The Athletics’s starter Ben Sheets went 7.1 innings, allowed 8 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Michael Wuertz (5.51), and Cedrick Bowers (5.06) also pitched for the Athletics. With the win, Vazquez’s record goes to 7-7, while Sheets falls to 3-8. Mariano Rivera earned the save for the Yankees, bringing his saves up to 19.
