Yankees lose to Rangers 6-1

The Texas Rangers did battle with the the New York Yankees yesterday at Rangers Ballpark with the Rangers victorious 6 to 1. It was a huge win that rooters with Rangers tickets aren’t likely to forget.

Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis (1.45 ERA) got the win, while Phil Hughes (6.32 ERA) took the loss for the Yankees. Colby Lewis went 8 solid innings for the Rangers, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Rangers was Neftali Feliz (2.08). The Yankees’s starter Phil Hughes went 4.2 innings, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. David Robertson (16.20), Kerry Wood (2.25), and Mariano Rivera (0.00) also pitched for the Yankees. With the win, Lewis’s record goes to 2-0, while Hughes drops to 1-2.

In addition to the 6 runs, the Rangers put up 7 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Rangers, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. David Murphy had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Yankees didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Yankees mustered one run, 3 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Brian Gorman, Gerry Davis, Tony Randazzo and Jim Reynolds. There were 51,404 Rangers ticket holders in attendance at Rangers Ballpark.
